Actos and bladder cancer

Several studies show a link between Actos and bladder cancer. In 2005, a group of researchers working to determine the cardiovascular risks of the drug noted a statistically significant increase in the number of cases of bladder cancer associated with prolonged use of Actos, as compared the the rest of the population.
In 2010, the FDA issued a Safety Announcement to declare that they were looking into the findings of this study and others, and in 2011, the organization issued a follow-up warning, noting that prolonged use of Actos may be associated with an increased risk in bladder cancer. Subsequent studies have shown that this increase in risk may be as high as 40% for patients taking the drug for 12 months or more.

Plaintiff seeks damages for Actos cancer

The plaintiff alleges that Takeda knew or should have known of the dangers associated with prolonged use of the drug, which is typically prescribed to treat type II diabetes, yet failed to take any action to warn the consuming public of risks associated with use of the drug. The plaintiff asserts that, due to the defective nature of Actos, he now suffers from bladder cancer, which has significantly impacted his lifestyle and quality of life.
He asserts that, had he known about the risks associated with the use of Actos, he would have never taken the drug and would have opted for a safer alternative.
According to the complaint, Actos is one of defendant Takeda Pharmaceuticals’ best-selling drugs, generating global sales of $4.8 billion in the last year, and is responsible for 27% of Takeda’s revenue.

Plaintiff Cites Link Between Actos And Bladder Cancer

As Actos litigation increases across the country, a new lawsuit alleges that the plaintiff suffered bladder cancer as a direct result of his prolonged exposure to Actos, which he took pursuant to his doctor’s orders from 2004 though 2011.
Plaintiff Lloyd Atkinson, through his Actos lawyer, filed his case on June 22, 2012, in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois. Atkinson names Takeda Pharmaceuticals and others as defendants.

Why should I file an Actose lawsuit?

You should file an Actos lawsuit for a number of reasons but , of course, only if you've been damaged.  Actose is supposed to help you manage your blood sugar but only if you have type 2 diabetes not type 1. Actos is well known for being risky as well. They recommend not using the drug if you have heart problems but I really don't know how a drug this risky could be approved. The FDA really leaves the door wide open on unsafety when they legalize a drug like Actos. Is it any wonder why they're (Actos) getting sued constantly? The way I see it just about any blood related problem could be related to taking this product: Actos. Duh!
